International Travels

Doha, Qatar

By: Greg

We were very excited to have the opportunity to travel with our hosts to Qatar.  Over the years we have heard so many things about this particular area.  It was nice to travel there and learn firsthand, that the people that live there are just like us in so many ways.  Doha, Qatar is really just one big desert.  We did have the chance to visit a beautiful sandy beach, which we loved.  There were big cities and little villages that we...

International Travels

Dresden, Germany

By: Greg

Our hostess in Germany made us feel so welcome.  She loved taking care of us, so we felt right at home.  We were able to visit so many interesting places in Dresden!  It was cold and snowy while we were there.  One thing we are learning on our adventures is that no matter what state or country you live in or visit, people are pretty much the same everywhere.  Our visit to Germany really proved that.  They sit down to family dinners,...

International Travels

Kyoto, Japan

By: super

We had a great adventure in Kyoto, Japan. This city is beautiful and filled with many exciting things to see. Part of the city is very old but the other part is a very busy city with many international businesses. Many people there use the bullet train to travel. The bullet train goes very fast at a speed of up to 185 mph. We thought that there would only be Japanese food to eat, but we were surprised.  There were many different types of...

International Travels

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

By: Greg

We went on a great adventure with Tamara, her husband and family on the Disney Cruise line to Vancouver, BC.  This was our first time on a cruise ship and we had such a fun time.  One of the great things about a cruise is the unlimited supply of food.  We made sure to be careful and not eat too much so that we could be sure to fit in our seats for the trip home, which, by the way, was on a train! That was exciting too!  While in Vancouver...

International Travels

London, England

By: super

Our adventure to London pr0ved to be a jolly good time!  We had the opportunity to ride the famous double decker red bus as we toured around some famous sites with our hosts.  We watched some beautiful boats sail down the Thames River.  Sitting atop a fence we had a royal view of Buckingham Palace.  It was too bad that our visit didn't take place at the same time as the Royal Wedding, but our hosts treated us like royalty and our...

International Travels

Siguenza, Spain

By: Greg

We traveled to Siguenza,  Spain with our two very excited young hosts.  Riding the train was very fun.  We visited a fort that looked like a castle.  We both thought that it looked like some of the forts form the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.  It was fun to pretend that we were pirates on our adventure.  We visited some great museums, saw some beautiful architecture, and enjoyed some yummy food.  Spain was beautiful and fun to visit....

International Travels

Rome, Italy

By: super

When we learned that our Uncle Bruce & Aunt Martha were going to be visiting Rome, we immediately asked to tag along.  We were so excited that they said "Yes"!  We saw so many historic sights like the Coliseum which was built between 70 & 72 A.D. and was used for Gladiator contests.  It was awesome!  Uncle Bruce got us a great view of Pope Benedict XVI as he was driving by in his motorcade.  This was really exciting!  The Pope...

International Travels

Port-au-Prince, Haiti

By: Greg

It wasn't as long a plane ride from Miami to Haiti as we thought it would be.  It only took about  one and a half hours.  Not bad since Haiti is 681 miles away from Florida.  During our travels in Haiti we quickly found out that not very many roads are paved, they are all pretty much just dirt.  In fact only 628 miles of all the roads are paved.  This made for some very bumpy rides!  We had a great time visiting an elementary school....

International Travels

Alps, Italy

By: Greg

The Swiss Alps was a very cold but very fun adventure!  There were so many beautiful things to see.  People come from all over the world to ski the famous slopes of the Alps.  We visited a beautiful and very old chateau, which is the French word for house.  Noodles had her picture taken next to a restaurant that was named after her.  Well, not really, but it was called Noodles.  The food was very yummy.  We also learned that Disneyland...

International Travels

Batdambang, Cambodia

By: super

Visiting schools is always one of our favorite things to do on our adventures.  Cambodia was no exception.  We loved visiting the University of Cambodia and an elementary school.  The students we met seemed happy to meet us which made us feel very welcome.  The architecture was cool, historic, and amazing.  We have to say that one of our favorite things that we did while here was to ride around in the colorful rickshaws! International Travels

San Felipe, Mexico

By: Greg

Although we don't get to go that often we love to go to the beach in San Felipe, Mexico.  We love playing in the water and looking for shells on the beach.  In San Felipe it's so cool because during the day the tide water comes clear up the the beach where we help Jakob & Ava build sandcastles.  Then in the evening the water recedes so far back, almost 2 kilometers back.  We can walk so far out where there used to be water.  It's...

International Travels

Barcelona, Spain

By: Greg

Spain is 5,076 miles away from our house.  That's pretty far.  So when our next door neighbors asked us to travel there with them we weren't sure at first.  But, hey, we are adventurers after all, so off we went.  We're sure glad that we did.  We had a blast with Jim & Krista.  We saw beautiful scenery, and ate some great food.  Our favorite spot was Montguic's Fountain located in the center of Placa d'Espanza.  We learned it was...
