National Travels

New York, New York

By: Greg

New York was awesome! We stayed in Manhattan, New York and because our trip was so short we didn't really have time to explore anywhere else. We have decided that New York must be the center of the universe because it seems like everything happens there. Everything from banking to fashion to television to the world. It also seems like the city that never sleeps. We were only there for three days but what an incredible three days it was. While...

Southern California

By: Greg

Well, as you can see from all of the pictures that we have posted, our great state of California has many cool and wonderful things to offer.  We have gone skydiving in Lake Perris, rode with our city's mayor in a Founder's Day parade, toured one of the main hubs for UPS, got a behind the scenes look at one of our favorite places to eat, In N Out Burger, hopped a freight train driven by our Uncle Steve, saw some stars, actual stars, at the...

Waco, Texas

By: Greg

During our adventure in Waco we spent a lot of time at Baylor University.  One of the most amazing spots on the campus was the library.  It has so many books in it that they have to use bookshelves that are pushed together, when you want to borrow a book, you push a button and the bookshelf electronically opens up and you grab the book you need.  Pretty cool!  Our host was so excited to take us to meet Kenneth Star, and we were pretty...

Washington D.C., D.C.

By: Greg

We were very excited to have the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C.,our nation's capital.  We visited the Washington Monument which was very impressive.  The National Mall was our next stop.  It is a large, open park area in the center of the city and often hosts political protests and demonstrations.  Luckily none were taking place on the day of our visit.  One of our favorite sites to see was the Lincoln Memorial, which is where Dr....

By: super

This was a very special adventure for us because we got to travel to the Kennedy Space Center with our whole family.  We were invited by NASA to attend the launch of the Space Shuttle!  We travelled to Florida and NASA showed us all around the Space Center.  On the day before the launch we were a part of a Skype call back home to all of the students at Ava & Jakob's Elementary School.  All of our friends were able to talk to us and...

Des Plaines, Illinois

By: Greg

While in Des Plaines, our hosts were excited to take us to the major city of Chicago.  We visited the Willis Tower, which used to be called the Sears Tower.  It is over 1,000 ft tall, and our view from the top was amazing, and a little scary.  We learned that Chicago is the largest city in the state of Illinois, and it is located right next to Lake Michigan.  Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President, was an Illinois lawyer and congressman....

Minneapolis, Minnesota

By: Greg

On our adventure to Minneapolis we learned that this city was once the world's largest flour milling capital and was known for its lumber production.  Today it is the primary business center between Chicago and Seattle.  Because there is so much water, the millers used hydropower in their processing of flour and grains, which means they make good use of all of that water.  In fact, Pillsbury and General Mills started their companies in...

Lytton, Iowa

By: Greg

Wow, Lytton, Iowa is a really, really small town, but we had a really great time with our hosts!  We visited Sac County which is the home of the world's largest popcorn ball! Really!  It weights 2, 225 pound and is quite a sight to see.  One of our adventures took us to Des Moines to attend the Iowa State Fair.  There was so much to see while we were there!  Two things we will never forget are the Butter Cow and Buster the Champion Super...

Lubbock, Texas

By: Greg

Whew!  On this adventure we learned that Lubbock loves its Texas Tech Raiders Football team!  We spent a lot of time visiting Texas Tech University, which is home to the Red Raiders.  We actually met the official Masked Raider, Texas Tech's horse riding mascot. Very cool!  The Red Raiders have been playing football since October 3, 1925.  They have won eleven conference titles and have been to 31 bowl games, winning 5 of the last 7....

Gulf Shores, Alabama

By: super

We had a terrific time in Gulf Shores.  Our hosts live in a beautiful retirement community which reminded us of a park.  One morning we caught sight of a huge alligator swimming in the Back Yard Lake!  Our hosts took us to visit Fort Morgan which is located at the mouth of the Mobile Bay.  Because Gulf Shores is located on the Gulf Coast, we experienced many water adventures.  The Tennessee River and Wilson Dam proved to be fun and...

Colonial Heights, Virginia

By: Greg

Wow, Virginia was exciting and interesting!  Like some of the other places that we have ventured to on the East Coast of the United States, there is just so much history here!  We visited a town that captured the history and feel of what an original colonial town would have been like.  We were sure that we could hear the hooves of Paul Revere's horse riding through town.  Just kidding, but it was very realistic.  Virginia has beautiful...
