About Our Host

MINNEAPOLIS,MN

Jeff and Cathy – Our Minnesota hosts were Cathy and Jeff. They invited us to come with them on their trip that actually not only went to Minnesota but also went to Idaho and Montana. They both are huge USC – University of Southern California football fans. They go to many of the games even when USC plays against college’s in other states. On this trip they were headed to Minnesota to see USC play the University of Minnesota. They are great friends, great hosts and crazy USC fans!

On our adventure to Minneapolis we learned that this city was once the world’s largest flour milling capital and was known for its lumber production.  Today it is the primary business center between Chicago and Seattle.  Because there is so much water, the millers used hydropower in their processing of flour and grains, which means they make good use of all of that water.  In fact, Pillsbury and General Mills started their companies in Minneapolis.  We love all of the great foods that come from both of these companies.  One of the coolest things that we learned while visiting here, is that Prince, that great singer of Purple Rain, was born right here in this very city!  Wow!
